Elem. Spring Soccer

Dear Parents,
Union Grove will once again be offering an intramural soccer program for students in grades 1-6. Girls and Boys in 1st – 3rd grade will be combined into teams as will the children in 4th – 6th grade. The kids always have a lot of fun, learn teamwork and improve their physical fitness as well.

The registration fee is $25.00. Each child who registers will receive a team t-shirt and play up to 8 games. The weekly games for grades 4 – 6 will be held on Mondays after school with games for grades 1 – 3 on Tuesdays. If Monday’s games are rained out they will be made up on the following Friday. Meanwhile, if Tuesday’s games are rained out they will be made up the following Thursday.

We will be holding two practice days before the season starts to allow the coaches to learn their player’s names, teach a few fundamentals and play short practice games to give us an idea how equal the teams look. The practice days for grades 1 – 3 will be held on Tuesday, March 10 and Thursday, March 12 right after school with the practice day for grades 4 – 6 on Monday, March 9 and Friday, March 13 right after school. The coaches will get a chance to work further on basic techniques during game days when your child is playing in the second or third games and in practices included in the schedule. Shin guards are highly recommended but not required. Soccer spikes are not required either and the younger kids should be able to play safely in a good pair of running shoes or sneakers.

Note: we are able to squeeze in a practice day during some weeks. Please note those on the schedule when you receive it.
If your child is going to play Spring Soccer, please complete the registration form on the website. If you can’t pay the $25 registration fee now, still please sign your child up if he or she wants to play and you can make payment before the first games on March 16 and March 17. If you have a special circumstance, please let us know because we want all the kids who desire it to be able to play.

Sisters and brothers will be put on the same team. If you have any other special needs, please let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.
We are also in need of parent and student volunteers to coach the teams. No experience is needed – just a willingness to have fun with the kids and your child will be put on your team! It will only require one or two afternoons and about 2-3 hours a week.

If you’d like to coach a team, please contact me at your earliest convenience by phone or e-mail.
